A Yeah God!

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Do you know what a "Yeah God" is? It is a time when God really shows up! It is a time when you want to brag on God and tell everyone just how great He really is! We had a yeah God today. Not one that would seem all that big to you maybe, but it was simply an answered prayer for our family. A prayer that we specifically started praying for last week and He decided to bring to fruition this week. God is so good!

When you think about it, there are many "yeah God's" that happen in your life all the time. Problem is that we very seldom write about those times. It is a lot easier to write about the struggles and the hard times that we go through. And people learn from those times too, but I believe it is important that we take some time to just brag on our God. So my confession for the day is this: God is so indescribably awesome that He deserves a "Yeah God!" What is your "Yeah God?"

What is your point of view?

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

2 Corinthians 5:16 states, "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view..." Wow! What a thought! To think that we are to see people from a spiritual point of view. Paul, of course, is speaking about what happens as a result of trusting Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. Paul once thought of Christ as the enemy. He once thought Christians were the enemy, but no more. Now he sees people, not from an external viewpoint, but from a spiritual view point. I wish I would of thought about that yesterday when I called that lady drive an idiot. Of course, she was in the wrong lane looking at me as though I was in the wrong lane, but regardless, I am to look at her from a spiritual point of view. Let's face it, that can be tough to do some time. But I can say that I am being more conscientious about what point of view I see things from. Think about it, while everyone saw David as a scrawny little shepherd boy, God saw a king. So with that thought, let me ask you: What is your point of view?

Last Resort

Friday, July 20, 2007

What is your last resort? I have been a Christian for nearly 30 years and in ministry for nearly 20, and I am amazed at how often I go through some difficult time in life only to go to God as my last resort. It is not that I mean to, but it just sometimes happens that way. I am a "fix it person." A "suck it up and get with it" kind of guy and so that is very often what I do. I dig my heels in, bound and determined to fix the situation I am in. Of course, you probably know the routine. Then again, you may be more spiritual than I am. But it never fails that eventually I go to God. I have to be reminded that I am His and no one or nothing can take me away from Him. No matter how difficult the path I find myself on, I will one day be with Him and that makes it all worth while. Great thing too is this: He is interested in every detail of my life and whatever path I am on. This thought brings me great joy and comfort for every day living.

So, my confession is this: So often I use God as a last resort. Thank God He has forgiven me. What is your last resort?

Just Starting...

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Folks at the church I pastor, Rock Springs Church (RSC), often tell me that am I a "down to earth guy." I think what they really mean by that is that I tend to be a little more transparent than maybe they are used to a preacher being. Well that is me! I have issues and I don't mind sharing them. So, it is fitting that my new blog spot would be called Chris' Confessions.

My first confession is that I am just starting at this whole blog thing. I am a bit anxious to see how it goes. I am one who likes to journal from time to time concerning what I am learning or dealing with in life. For those of you that know me, you are about to find out just how many issues I really have. For those of you who don't know, well have fun at my expense. Today's lesson is simple: Don't be afraid to start something new. At least something new for you. It may be helpful to remember that there is nothing new under the sun, but it helps to know that you can relate to what others are going through. So, whatever it is that you have thought about starting for the first time, try it! So long as it is legal and God glorifying. See ya next time!
