Glad the Holidays are almost over!

Friday, December 28, 2007

Okay, I will admit that I am a scrooge! As as kid, I loved Christmas then somewhere between teenage years and adult years I became a scrooge. Maybe it was working during the holidays that made me that way. If you work in retail or fast food in a mall, you see the worst of people during the holidays. I am not really sure why I am a scrooge.

I also deal with seasonal depression around this time of year. I hate this time of year and yes I meant to use the word "hate." Now before you go and get all spiritual on me, I know we celebrate the birth of Christ during this year and I do celebrate His birth. But I have to say, I am glad the holidays are almost over!

Here's to looking forward to 2008! And again, I am glad the holidays are almost over.

Great moment for Dad!

Thursday, December 6, 2007

Okay, this post is not to brag on my son--although it may seem that way. I simply want to celebrate what was a father/son moment that I won't ever forget. My son's bball team was down three with only 2.4 seconds left. We (I help coach the team) drew up a play for my son to shoot a three. After the players went back onto the court, I simply winked at my son and said you can do this. He received the ball, shot with only .2 seconds left and hit the three. The entire team rushed the court to hug my son, but he bypassed them all and went straight to his dad! Wow! I will never forget that. We also won in overtime!

Now, let me tell you about my proudest moment. Our team represents a christian school. One of our team members was accessed a technical foul for using foul language. After the game was over and we had one. We always huddle and ask one of the players to pray. My son prayed and asked God to forgive our team for not representing His name well, as one of our players received a "T" for foul language. As a team, we play for the honor and glory of God! I have always taught my son to live for the glory of God. With 31 points for the night and a game tying three to send the game into overtime, my proudest moment was when he prayed that prayer. For the moment, he gets it and I hope that only continues! What else can I say? It was a great moment for Dad!
