A Touch of Jesus

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Recently, at our elder's retreat, one of our elders read from 1 Timothy 6:11-16. In this passage, Paul charge's Timothy to pursue godly character traits and to guard himself to be a man of God. One of the most exciting points of this passage is how Paul references Jesus in the passage and then sort of veres off of the original intent of his thought and just begins giving praise to Jesus. Jesus is that kind of Lord and Savior! You can not just mention the name of Jesus and stop there. He has done so much for us--in his life, his death, his resurrection...etc. This morning, I went back to that passage again just to imagine how Paul could not stop with the name of Jesus; rather he began a discourse of praise to Jesus. It excites me as I imagine Paul speaking the name of Jesus, but not being able to stop there. I am immediately reminded of many of the things Jesus has done. In a sense, it takes only a touch of Jesus to give you a new perspective on things. I pray that wherever you are at in your life, whatever you are doing, speak the name of Jesus and contemplate all He has done and is doing for you. Experience a touch from Jesus and see if He does not give you a new perspective on things.
